基因敲减是指通过降解具有同源序列靶基因的mRNA，达到阻止基因表达的作用。利用单链小RNA高效、特异性降解细胞内同源mRNA，从而阻断体内靶基因的表达，使细胞出现靶基因缺失的表型。基因过表达是通过体外转染表达质粒增加细胞内某一指标的表达量上升的一个过程。
